Dr. Andréa Aguiar Azevedo is the Advising Vice President, Brazil Origination. In this capacity, she oversees the origination of high-integrity carbon credits across Brazilian jurisdictions. She brings more than 15 years of experience leading impactful initiatives across the Brazilian Amazon, with a strong track record in environmental policy, REDD+ strategies, and bioeconomy.
She has authored more than 30 technical and scientific studies, with publications in leading journals such as Science and PNAS. Prior to joining Emergent, Dr. Azevedo held leadership roles at IPAM (as Public Policy Director), the Renova Foundation, and the Conexsus Institute (as Institutional Director).
She holds a degree in Biological Sciences, a Master’s in Economics, and a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development from the University of Brasília (UnB), along with an Executive MBA.
