Mato Grosso Signs New LEAF Coalition Agreement

11 November, 2025 | COP30 Belém: Mato Grosso has become the latest state in Brazil to make progress towards an agreement to receive climate finance from the LEAF Coalition by signing a new letter of intent with Emergent at COP30 today.
The agreement signals the State of Mato Grosso’s intent to continue policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and generate social benefits, while continuing to pursue more sustainable agricultural production.
The letter sets out the commitment of the Government of Mato Grosso and Emergent to work together towards an agreement to transact high-integrity jurisdictional REDD+ emissions reductions for sale to LEAF Coalition buyers, in compliance with Brazilian law.
